Bruce Cook began his professional motocross career in 2005, touring across Canada. In 2014, he joined Nitro Circus, which features world-class athletes and daredevils performing outrageous and risky stunts. His first show found him attempting the world’s first double front flip on a motorcycle and when the trick did not go as planned, Cook suffered a broken vertebra and a damaged spinal cord, resulting in paralysis. After regaining his strength and confidence, Cook was back on a modified bike and landed the world’s first backflip as a paraplegic, 10 months after his accident.
Bruce is passionate about helping other people with disabilities experience adrenaline and adventure because it’s been a huge part of his own life. When he became paralyzed he realized that the biggest limitation he faced was other peoples perspectives on what he could or could not do.
Early into his injury, Bruce and his best friend Billy began fabricating and adapting his way to where he wanted to be. Along side touring with Nitro Circus, Bruce has raced UTVs in the pro Baja circuit and has recently raced the Baja 1000 in a trophy truck. Bruce believes that everyone should have the opportunity to try what they love, in a way that works and in an environment that is inclusive. if What you love is adrenaline, then he is your guy.
